Minnesota Runs Out of Time To Legalize Sports Betting

Another year, another session without legalized .

Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman (DFL-34B) broke the news at a this afternoon when asked if sports betting would be passed in the remaining few days of the Minnesota legislative session.

I think we’re probably out of time. In the House, it has two or three committees and we’re not going to be able to take people away from the floor to have that bill move through the committees that it would need to. I think that there’s a coalition of folks who are still really interested in making sure that that gets done. I just don’t think it will get done this session, she said.

The final day of the Minnesota session is Monday, May 22, but could be adjourned earlier.

Maryland Sets State Sports Betting Record in November

broke its own monthly record in November, and it s not out of the realm of possibility that it could have another record-setting month in December.

Maryland Lottery and Gaming reported a total sports betting handle of $550,716,329, its largest single-month total since December 2022.

Online sports betting accounted for nearly 97% of the state s total handle.

Record Setting Month

Maryland sports betting broke its previous monthly high that was set last year. The state s previous record was $497.1 million in December 2022. As football continues to march towards the playoffs, it s a good bet that we ll see another record setting month in December 2023.
